It wasn't just because TikTok users love to gossip — the platform suggested names of popular models as related searches at the bottom of Paré's video. When Business Insider viewed the video, TikTok suggested searching for "devon windsor suitcase" and "Taylor Hill" in different search bars. As TikTok looks to boost search activity , the company is automatically generating suggested queries in the search bars on videos. AdvertisementSince user comments help feed recommended searches, trolls flooding a creator's comments section with rude phrases or false claims can impact what the app recommends their followers view next. AdvertisementLike Bervell, several other TikTokers expressed frustration at their lack of control over the recommended searches, which can end up being "gossipy," he said, or completely unrelated to their content.

The app isn't close to challenging Google's search dominance (the companies have even partnered together). But as a video-first app, TikTok may be better suited for certain visual-leaning queries. A new Adobe Express survey, conducted in August by brand-engagement firm Fractl, examined what makes search different on TikTok and what its users typically look for. AdvertisementFor brands looking to post on TikTok, Adobe's report offered insights into the types of videos companies should make and what topics to focus on. Respondents tended to prefer "video tutorials," "product or service reviews," and "personal stories or anecdotes" when using TikTok as a search engine.

Rising rates and the possibility of a recession on the horizon have created a "mixed picture" for equity markets, according to one strategist — but several companies can look forward to markedly stronger earnings growth in the next year. "But, if you're looking for significant earnings expansion, I suspect, at a market level, that's probably less likely. The earnings growth rate for the S & P 500 was 3.7% year-on-year – the first quarter with year-on-year growth since the third quarter of 2022, the data showed. "What Eli Lilly is going to do with their weight loss drug is not dependent on whether the rates are 5.2% or 4.8%. "People didn't really talk about [Adobe] — everyone assumed that they were going to be a loser from AI," he said.

On Thursday, San Jose, California-based Adobe said it will start offering Firefly to its corporate customers as part of Adobe Express, a tool aimed at helping business users who do not specialize in design to create images and documents. Microsoft is launching a simple graphic design app called Designer that will be available for free and as part of Office productivity software subscriptions, the company said Wednesday. Microsoft has sought to demonstrate the value of Office subscriptions by adding new capabilities, and earlier this year it raised the prices of some bundles aimed at businesses. With its Designer app, Microsoft is initially aiming at consumers, a spokesperson told CNBC in an email. The launch of Designer might also make Microsoft bump up against Adobe , which fields the free Adobe Express tool that features templates and stock images. Once the app becomes generally available, Microsoft will maintain a free tier, along with a premium version for those with Microsoft 365 Personal and Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions, the spokesperson said.
Before acquiring Figma, Adobe had a similar product, Adobe XD, that failed to take off. That's one of the main reasons Adobe wants to join forces with Figma, Scott Belsky, Adobe's chief product officer, told Insider. He acknowledges that Adobe's rival tool for product design, called Adobe XD, wasn't successful. Why Adobe XD never took offAdobe created Adobe XD in 2016 because it saw a lot of people using Photoshop for website building. As a desktop product, XD used local files and wasn't collaborative.
